Suspense, mystery, and gripping plots are all elements of mysteries. Students will be learning about the genre of mysteries in the month of October. Students will be engaged in intriguing mystery stories and activities. I recommend the following mysteries to read: Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Sammy Keyes by Wendelin Van Draanen, Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy series, and a new mystery called Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff. Students will get to check out mystery books during a mystery book pass. Every night students will read their mystery for twenty minutes every night. By reading every night, students will be entertained by a good book and earn a reward coupon from "Pizza Hut Book-It" program. Parents, please verify reading at night by signing a reading log.
